How are you getting on? What brought about your diagnosis?

Not been doing too good with meds it not had any help . Got diagnosed after not been well for quite a few months nurse kept dismissing all symptoms but was on holiday in Grimsby and was really not well plus started with a uti had to go hospital and was told my bs was over 28 so started from there

I was on metaformin 2000mg and 120 mg gliclazide but was having highs and lows so got took off gliclazide and put on empagliflozin but just having highs so took of metaformin now and back on to gliclazide

Welcome to the forum @Zoey27

Sorry to hear that things have been difficult.
What strategies have you tired to manage your levels so far?

I’ve just been taking the meds watching what I eat n drink apart from that nothing as I’ve had no help at all just given meds and told to google any probs

Hi Zoey - sorry to hear you're having issues with your BGs. Before your diagnosis, were you losing any weight without meaning to?

Yes I did list 1stone and a half in 6 weeks was drinking loads and had water infection too but drs kept dismissing it

With those symptoms I suspect people will be along to suggest you may have been misdiagnosed and are actually Type 1 which could explain why the meds are not working all that well.
You may need to request the appropriate tests to confirm your diagnosis or referral to the diabetic consultant.

My dr refered me to diabetic nurse but the diabetic nurses cancelled the referral . But finally got a telephone appointment with them . It wasn’t my dr who diagnosed it I was away at Grimsby and wasn’t well so got to go hospital and they did all the tests and bg was over 28 and my hbac1 test was over 130 but that’s now 53

Sorry to hear about the rough ride you’ve been having so far @Zoey27 :(

Have you already had the telephone appointment? Or is that still coming up?

It might be worth asking a specialist (rather than your GP/practice nurse) if you fit the profile for LADA. This is a slow-onset form of T1 that can initially look like T2, and even respond to T2 meds, but only while the immune system is slowly disposing of the remaining beta cells. The earlier it is treated as T1 the better I believe.

No not had telephone appointment yet that’s June. The nurse at my drs is a diabetic nurse but not very good too be honest had more help from one of the gps. Had test s all done at the hospital in Grimsby when I found out I’m from Manchester so they was very helpful and did loads of tests
