Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi there. Wondered whether there are anyone in this group that are Hypothryriod and diabetic type 2 > the two conditions are appparently very common.🙂

I'm sure there are a few on here.
Although not diabetic I have an underactive thyroid too. So now they are checking Carol's blood for it too, especially as it's connected with diabetes and it runs in my family (my mum, her sister and my cousin all have it too :()

Hyothyroidism+ 2

I have hyopothyroidism and am on 100mcg thyroxin daily and have been steady at that for 3 years now. When diagnosed as Type 2 last year was told very common to have both, Therefore why on earth don't they test for it annually at the same time as thyroid test - they are both fasting. Similarly have now been told have too high cholesterol and so have just started statins - again was told be nurse that this was also common and that all 3 go together!!!
Can anyone say if or how these medications might interact?

Whenever I go for my blood test I always notice that my endo has ticked that i'm "on thyroxine" but i'm not :\ i don't think i have a thyroid problem, i'm not sure how you would tell.

So does that mean you are having TFT (Thyroid Function Test) done, or not?

Main symptoms are loss of hair - can be from anywhere/everywhere, not just your head. Like I assumed my leg hairs stopped growing because of all the dosh I'd previously spent on having em waxed. Apparently not so! Also I don't have to shave my pits anywhere near as often, and only occasionally pluck a stray eyebrow hair, whereas it used to be every single day tidying up the stubble!

Tiredness, more than usual.

Feeling the cold, more than usual.

All things it was 'natural' for me to think it was just creeping AD causing it.

NOT.

As far as I'm aware, thyroid is not a fasting test. I don't fast for it. Carol gets hers tested annually together with the other tests they do.
