Most of the numbers are under 10
I am also putting on weight and not sure why
Any comments would be appreciated

Hi @Jjj if you are happy to do so it will help us in our responses if we know how you manage your T1
Multiple daily injections or a pump?
Do you have a Libre sensor or equivalent?
What insulins are you using?
Have you done a carb counting course?

Sorry about the bombardment of questions and apologies if you have told us this elsewhere.

Hi
3 Times a day Novarapid
Overnight levemir
Did have libre-couldnt get on with it
Not do dapne course.waiting to be allocated a place

You can carb count without doing DAFNE @jjj. 🙂 It’s pretty simple. There’s also an online course:

You say you’re “trying to lower your sugar levels” - are reducing food to do so? If so, that could be a cause of your hypos. Can you give an example of when you had a hypo? Is it, say, two hours after your meal? during the night? during exercise?

Hi
Yes reducing food intake
Hypo this afternoon.
3.2 after 3hrs.

Hi
I adjust.Meant to take 8 units
I have breakfast b4 work.Started to only take 6 units on work days
After 2hrs under 4
It’s no way your fault. We all have to learn an insulin to carb ratio rate. (Which can be personal.) also your “levemir?” Basal testing on the long acting is like building a house on solid foundations. Or the walls will crack with the Novorapid. Best wishes.

Ok, so you’ll need to reduce your insulin for that meal if you’re reducing the carbs. Once you’ve got yourself sorted with the carb-counting, you’ll find it much easier and you’ll be able to eat normally and take the appropriate amount of insulin. It’s insulin that’s the answer to high blood sugars.

You could try eating the same again (exactly the same and same amounts) and take a little less insulin and see how that goes.

Do you mean you’re supposed to take 8 units for each meal (breakfast, lunch, etc)? That would be unusual to need exactly the same amount for all those.

If you’ve started to reduce your food this last month, then it looks like the hypos might be linked to that. Type 1 isn’t about the food, it’s about the insulin. If you get the insulin wrong, you could eat a crispbread and get high sugars.

It sounds like you’ve made a good start making some reductions to your insulin @jjj. Don’t be disheartened. You just need to keep on going. Sticking to the same breakfast and lunch each day is a good way to work out how much insulin you need for each of those.
