Hey guys,
I’m wondering if anyone here goes to pop punk sort of gigs or along those lines? and how do you manage with hypoing in the crowd due to the sweatyness?
I always bring in food and drink and it’s never enough, I don’t go properly into the crowd anymore and I still just drop like crazy.
I tried lowering my lantus and even eating carb beforehand without insulin and I just ended up with like 3.5s
Any advice??

Hello Luke, welcome to the forum. 🙂 I like your icon, proper creepy for some reason.

Hi Luke, are you having any alcohol before/during the gigs?

I think you have tried the right things, you just need to increase them. So, drop the last bolus before the event if it's going to be less than 4 hours after; eat a larger snack, maybe with the addition of protein for slow release, and snack/ drink things with carbs in during the event.

You'll be lucky - it's likely to be afternoon tea dances with a sugar free werthers original on here. :D

Agree with Radders - more carb and/or less insulin.

I go to rock concerts Matt!

Yeah I drink alcohol, within reason though, and really sugary drinks on those days,
It’s just yesterday I managed to drink full sugar red bull and Dr Pepper without it having an effect on my blood sugar due to the heat and I’m thinking do I just leave out the humalog eating before shows?
(I have another one tonight)

I guess it would depend on what you are eating: I'd be inclined to reduce rather than stop the fast acting unless it was a very low carb, low GI meal but that's because I would hate the spike that I would get on the way to the concert otherwise. You might just have to try it and see, keeping a note of what happens.

I notice you are on lantus. I understand that reducing that has no appreciable effect for a few days.

Aye cheeky monkey. Last gig I went to was a deathrock/goth festival in Germany .
Mind I wouldn't say no to a sugar free Werthers.

Sounds like you are trying the right things. Have you ever tried Levemir as a basal? Many people find it accepts changed doses immediately (Lantus can take a day or two to catch up). Additionally it often works better split into 2 doses, which makes it more easy to tailor to your day/night differences.

Hope you find a system that works well for you. Have you ever been offered structured education/DAFNE or similar?
