Since seeing the GP on Friday and taking 3 Domperidone each day I have had 13 hypos. Clearly the food moving through my stomach much quicker is having a big effect but I'm kind of stuck as to what to do. Reducing the Lantus hasn't helped as wake up higher, even my decreasing just 1 unit. Reducing the NR isn't doing much, and it is all quite unpredictable. This afternoon for example, 9.6 2 hours after eating (tested at 2.30pm), now 2.8.

Any ideas as to what I can do? Thanks.

Hi Newbs

I have extra background insulin to cover the food taking longer to go through my stomach. That would suggest that if the domperidone is helping you to digest the food more quickly then you need to reduce your background insulin. Unfortunately gastroparesis does cause unpredictable BGs but 13 hypos in that time is a lot - although when I have the control as good as I can I do tend to average two hypos a day.

Sorry I hadn't read correctly what you'd said about waking up higher......could this be because of the evening meal taking longer to digest during the night? Ie my BGs can be good until about 3am when the food kicks in. I'm on eight domperidone per day plus erythromycin four times a day for the gastroparesis.

Possibly, or the fact that I've had to have supper each evening to raise my BG. I've just been prescribed Rinitidine to take alongside the Domperidone, haven't taken any yet though. 8 Domperidone a day must be a nightmare, I'm struggling to remember to take all of mine!
