HI,

If your blood sugar drops this low, that would constitute a hypo (as I'm sure you are aware) and you would need to keep treating it with some kind of sugar, until it returns to 'normal', then carbs - not good for your overall control or weight! I suggest you keep a good record of your blood sugar readings and how much insulin you have taken, and ask for a referral to see a Diabetic Specialist Nurse or consultant as soon as possible. In the meantime, you might like to contact the Diabetes UK Careline for advice: 0845 120 2960, Monday?Friday, 9am-5pm and/or ask to see another doctor. Good luck!

Do you take a humalog mix? or just regular humalog with a seperate long acting insulin?
Will make it easier to offer advice if I know.

5 is a good number to be before a meal, so it isn't great to be aiming for higher.

Have you got a DSN to talk dose adjustment over with?
