Oh goodie - I'm having a hypo

3.0 - no signs, I only tested as its tea time.

When I had loads in 72 hours, I had various levels of signs but this takes the mickey

I've had a couple of 2.8s the past couple of days, also close to eating and felt nowt - maybe just a bit odd. As I said to someone yesterday, if they are dropping slowly, as is most likely just before you are due your next meal, it's not unusual to get less-pronounced symptoms or maybe none.

Hope it doesn't leave you feeling grotty! 🙂

I feel ****ed off with it if I'm honest, just glad I decided to have tea & not have a sleep

I've just had the journey from hell getting home from work (snow has a lot to answer for), tested before I left work 6.0, walked through the door and felt a little strange, tested again 3.7! Didn't notice anything whilst driving!

3.1 for me. Went out shopping for food and tested when I got back indoors cos I started feeling odd as soon as I sat down. It took half a dozen jelly babies and a cold roast spud to get me into the fives. Then I dozed off and woke to another hypo, 3.3 this time, so a slice of toast with jam and I'm now at 6.0. Got a rotten headache now.

I had a 2.4 yesterday with no warning signs. Only tested for the same reason that you did so I know how annoyed/worried that you feel

I had mine before tea, rested up.
Had a shower & ended up having to hold onto the wall coz I felt funny & bam another bloody hypo.

Spoke to someone I know & if we are too cold & shiver, we burn off too much energy & can go hypo.
I just hope e-on wont charge me the earth if I whack the heating on for longer & higher

3.2 recently and 3.9 today - absolutely no hypo feelings. I was at over 7.0 when I left work - I'd driven 5 mins up town, parked the car and walked a short walk to get a valentines card. Not rushing at all but 3.9 some 20 minutes later! Annoyed, worried and scared when I don't get hypo feeling. It seems to be getting more random too as to when I feel hypo for sure and when I don't.
The pump helps as hypos are normally milder and I find them easier and quicker to treat too.

Can I just ask? How do you know if you are having a hypo in your sleep? My lowest so far is a 3.2 just before lunch usally! I get all the signs and i carry all the correct things!.but the key thing is i'm awake?!

Well we were talking about this on another thread the other day - I usually wake up, and often have a really really stupid dream before I do so, and kind of think to myself, glad I woke up that dream was potty. And then think, Oh - maybe I ought to test? LOL

Deus XM has a dream too, but says it usually involves him stuffing down really really sweet stuff, and then he wakes up.

And I've woken and not known why and thought well I'll go to the loo anyway, may as well - and then like walked into the wall or something. Ooops.

But then if I have a high fasting BG for no partic reason, it does make me think, well did I have a hypo then and not wake up, and Mr Liver sent me a present?

oh right ok! So if for any reason I wake up in the night, it would be worth testing? Blimey if I test every time i woke from a weird dream they will start charging me for the test strips!!...or start limiting them of course! :/ lol

I've had 3 in my sleep where the paramedics have had to attend, so I now wear nice pjs to bed.

The rest I've woken up & felt really disorientated so I've checked & I've been hypo or I wake up & crave sugar

It's certainly worth testing every time to begin with, particularly if you feel particularly hot (which is how I feel if I wake), at least until you can get a good feeling for whether or not you need to test. I had quite a few night hypos in the early days because my lantus was set too high. Usually woke soaked in sweat, but sometimes just feeling really disorientated - or, like Trophywench, thought I needed the loo but decided to test and found myself hypo.

As has also been said, you won't necessarily wake from them, so if you wake up feeling like you have a hangover and you haven't been drinking then it's advisable to set your alarm to test for 3am to check what is happening at that time. This is the time when your liver will normally be putting out the least glucose, so tends to be when your BG is lowest also.

I'm a very heavy sleeper (I have 3 alarm clocks to get me up) and haven't had a hypo wake me yet, but I have on occasions woken up with the hangover from hell without the pleasure of having a drink the previous night. There doesn't seem to be any pattern. Before insulin I had several occurrences of waking up dripping in sweat but didn't have a meter to test so didn't know what was happening!

I test myself before I go to bed and I dont normally wake up after I have closed for the day! During my diagnosis tho I was up every hour needing the loo!!

Thanks for all the info and help by the way guys, I do really apprciate it! The hospital have been great but they arent very forthcoming with info! :(

I will get there tho 😉

Well then - buy Ragnar Hanas' book and educate yerself!

Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Teenagers and Young Adults

(Northie bought it, cos he was diagnosed young at 50 something - it actually applies to anyone with T1 but just ignore the parts about nappies etc LOL)

Ye that book comes highly recommended! I shall purchase myself a copy 🙂

It looks and sounds better than the book "Diabetes for idots" lol

????? written by idiots for idiots??? LOL

No excitement last night, which is a relief after yesterday, but then I think I may have overdone the carbs a wee bit as my bedtime BG was 9.2. Still, it did get me a decent night's kip with no strange dreams (I thought that was just me).
