Hi All,
I've just experienced my 2nd hypo (3.3 at 10.50pm). No idea what caused it as had quite a high carb dinner and usual amount of insulin. I've taken my hypo goodies (wine gums then 10 mins later a digestive biscuit). My question is what do I do about going to bed? Just test as normal and sleep or should I wait to a certain level before bed?
Also, should i check again in the middle of the night?
Thanks in advance for help!!

Sorry to hear about your hypo. The main thing to bear in mind before bed is what time you took your last dose of fast-acting insulin and what your level is before you go to bed. I always try to have my evening meal at a time which allows my fast acting to have completely 'expired' by bedtime i.e. at least 5 hours before bed. You should also use your normal waking levels to learn what your overnight drop in levels is likely to be so you have some idea of a 'safe' level before bed. What I normally do if I have a hypo shortly before bed is treat the hypo with some fast sugar (about 15g carbs), make sure it has brought my levels up to at least 5.5 then have something slow-release like peanut butter on toast or cheese on toast to keep my levels up overnight. As you are new to things, it can be a good idea to check at 3 am to make sure that you are OK. 🙂

Hiya,
It sounds as if your pancreas has decided to come to life (Honeymoon) so rest assured you have done nothing wrong at all. 🙂
Best thing is 15 carbs and test 15 mins later if gone up then you are fine. As your pancreas will be playing silly billy's for a little while thus unpredictable then play safe at night and have a slice of toast before you go to bed as well.
Hope you are feeling better this morning.
