I am type 2 on insulin and find it extremely difficult with my work to monitor bloods, I have been given one pad from someone who has changed to dexcom. I absolutely love it and think it will help me massively get control back of my poor levels .I know my gp won't prescribe it too me so is there any cheaper sites I can purchase the pads from

[This should probably be in its own thread, but that'll need a moderator to do.]

In case you hadn't seen it, the guidelines for Time in Range are in this slightly academic paper: https://diabetesjournals.org/care/a...cal-Targets-for-Continuous-Glucose-Monitoring

A helpful summary chart is this: https://diabetesjournals.org/view-large/figure/3249168/dci190028f1.jpeg

So we (or most of us) should aim for <4% under 3.9mmol/L. (Obviously that's of no value without a CGM but everyone with Type 1 in England, at least, should be able to get one without too much trouble.)

Also (in case you aren't aware) hypo unawareness isn't always permanent (and (probably) isn't inevitable). It's not impossible that spending a few weeks concentrating on reducing hypos might allow your awareness to return. (Indeed, I suspect many of us have had periods of hypo unawareness. I certainly have.)

Hi @Beagle2 🙂 Do you use the Libre? Are you confirming the hypo with a fingerprick? If you’re having lots of hypos, you’re having too much insulin for your needs. What insulins do you take and when did you last do a basal test? Do the hypos happen at the same time of day/night?

You should be able to regain some hypo awareness if you run slightly higher for a while, eg ensuring you stay in the 5s or above at all times and treating any drop below that with a small amount of carbs. If you have a Libre, your Low alarm should be set at 5.6.
