I was in class today (supporting a primary school class) when I got a horrid hypo. Like a sudden drop. I was fine then I wasn’t.

Treated hypo. Then noticed I stank. My husband (who also works at the school) came to my classroom because I didn’t go to staffroom abd he wanted to make sure I’m okay. He could smell it. I also apologised to and explained to classroom teacher that hypo sometimes causes me to smell

It’s like a sickly sweet smell.

Anyway, I went home with husband to have a shower (the teacher is happy for me to arrive back later). It’s all over my clothes. I’ve had to change. It stinks.

But I had a shower last night and it was clean clothes. So it’s definitely the hypo.

Quite often it’s a little bit wiffy after a hypo and I just kind of cover it with spray. But this was too bad for that. And it was a really sudden drop.

Does anyone else have this issue at all do you know?

Sorry to here Amberzak. Really good luck 🙂 Sometimes you have to just get with it. Life 😱

I cant say I have experienced this, although bad hypos have came with quite significant sweating....but again, its not something I noticed as stand out smelly....

I would have maybe said that it may have been mostly in your own mind but if your husband confirms it too then its must be happening....strange one....

Interesting question..that smell is caused by the release of complex aromatic amines. Why it happens is anyone’s guess - some drugs can cause odd sweat aromas, so it may be something you are taking. Steroids can do it, as can persistent hyperglycaemia, working hand in hand with commensal skin bacteria. These commensals are happiest in the sweaty areas - armpits especially. There are commercial anti bacterial products in the shops that are worth a try. It’s not a signifier of internal disorder, so don’t worry.

Good grief Mike - although obviously I'm aware that some peoples sweat smells more than others - I had no idea about 'what you said' before.

When I was first diagnosed I noticed this too. It seems not to be the case any more though.
