morning

i have been enquiring about this for a while but the price of a gastric band is ridiculous, so i was wondering if anyone has been through hypnotherapy to deal with weigh loss. I came across a gentleman who is a diabetic coach and is trained to do these Hypno bands so i was wondering is anyone has had them done...

its not cheap but they "put you under" and do the process and the success rate is quite good!!!

if anyone has been through this or knows anyone that has then i would be interested to know what they thought of it!!!

thanks in advance

xxxx

cheers robster!!! i might give it a go then and let you all know what its like...!!! watch this space, its around ?500 but like that lady said in the previous thread, im willing to give anything a go!!!

Good luck with it hellbell, keep us up to date if you do try it as I'm sure your experience will help others decide too 🙂 I wonder if the NHS will pay for it or contribute? It wouild make sense to me as they have funded things like homeopathic treatments in the past, plus they fund all sorts of things to help people stop smoking so why not this?

WOW, it aint cheap, what happens if its not successful..............?

these guys give you a gaurantee that if it doesnt work then they will give you an alternative route to go down to deal with your weight, such as CBT and some other therapies as well

I agree that it should be under NHS ideally because i believe weight is a massive issue across the country, and if they can do smoking aids on the NHS then why not this? its too risky for me to reach a BMI of 35 before they would even consider me for gastric band which i think is ridulcous, but i shall let you all know what happens, theres an appointment in the next few weeks so once i attend that, i shall keep you all posted

🙂

p.s sorry for all the spelling mistakes!

Hi hellbell, I just read this and was thinking that I would be worried that it might not work. I am having hypnotherapy soon to deal with phobias of medical things like needles etc which my psychologist is doing with me and it is on the nhs. Is there any way you could get referred to a psychologist through the nhs and see if they can do something for you first. I doubt it would be the same thing, but they might be able to help you deal with issues surrounding overeating and your weight? I don't want to discourage you but thought this was worth mentioning

My Auntie has had a couple of experiences with hypnotherapy. She first went many, many years ago with her husband to quit smoking. After the first batch of hypnotherapy he husband quit straight away but she struggled, she was invited back to have another free session and has never smoked since. My Uncle however is now a chain smoker but I don't think he started again for a long time after the hypnotherapy. My Auntie then decided to go back to hypotherapy to try and loose weight (she is 5'2 and was 17 stone when she fell pregnant with her third child). The hypnotherapy did not work for her and caused many other problems (she very nearly divorced her husband). She ended up travelling to Belguim and have a gastric band fitted out there. She has lost a lot of weight and she looks fab after having another op to remove the excess skin. Maybe she just got the wrong hypnotherapist for the weight loss. Maybe if they had just concentrated on stopping her from eating when she felt like it instead of digging up the past to find out why she over ate then maybe it would have worked. I'd be very weary of paying that amount without a lot of research first.

Sometimes you have to deal with the underlying causes to make any difference to the symptoms.

Some people have eating issues/disorders directly because of past events and traumas. Unless these are dealt with properly (professionally?) they will resurface in the future in another way.

i agree with robster - there are several ways to do this i believe, first of all theres the slow approach

6 sessions to find out why you overeat, problems you have had in the past etc, and only after the 6th session do you get offered to go into "surgery"

this to me is just standard therapy/counselling which i have had already (got admitted to the priory but not ashamed to say it)

for me, this is the most harshest way i can think of doing it without going under the knife, the one i have chosen has 80% success which is similar to those who undergo the actual surgery, if you choose to eat excess, then the band will not work, and the same goes for this therapy. the price includes "adjustments" of the band as well and follow up sessions as well as a cd which covers all the main aspects of the procedure and the aftercare.

just abut to put my deposit down.... dun dun dun.....

Good luck with it all, hope it is successful. Keep us updated 🙂

My Auntie is pretty gung ho and wants everything done yesterday so there is a very high chance that she just went ahead and did it without knowing the process.

Best of luck and I hope it works out for you.
