Noticed lately that my BS has been near the 15-17 mark and im not feeling any signs, of course im calling them hypers as those levels would point to the fact its a hyper, only tested as it was time too so was abit of a shock, im in the midst of a stinking cold right now so that may be contributing to the high levels, but its worrying that ive only been diagnosed 2 years and I cant feel any symptoms.
What can I do?

Thanks

I don't know what to suggest really Steff. I don't really get anything in the way of symptoms when my levels are high (such as when I'm at forum meets!). I sometimes feel a little nauseous. The cold might be masking how you would normally know that your levels are high, and would almost certainly be a major contributing factor in having them. Might be something you can discuss with your doctor/nurse when you next see them.

Hope you are feeling better soon 🙂

The brain gets very good at hiding things from us - I think its a way to allow us to carry on. Certainly I got to the point where my brain numbed everything to allow me to continue. I actually knew I was recovering when I felt ill - with a virus and started to feel hungry - as even these basic things were being blocked.

As to how you get symptoms back - I would hope that once you can get control back and you only get a rare hyper you will be able to recognise them. I hope that will happen for you Steff, and hope that you get over your horrid cold soon.

Well personally Steff, I feel hot and sweaty and my eyes feel bunged up - hang on a minute, aren't they much like some of the symptoms of a cold? - so I think Northerner is correct. 😱

I hope you feel better soon, there are a lot of colds doing the rounds at the moment. My only suggestion is to keep up the fluids.

Hi Steff I don't think that I've ever had symptoms when my BG s are high unless they are in the 20s. That's why blood testing is so important as high BGs can be symptomless and yet causing damage. I'm also finding that my BGs are going easily up to 17 at the moment and it's very, very annoying. Hope you feel much better very soon.

I too dont feel much in the way of symptoms unless maybe above 18 where my legs would ache......

But as Alan suggested the cold may be the culprit, and almost definitely will be masking your bodies ability to detect its normal warning signs.....

Hope you feel better soon.........😛

I've never really felt highs either (unless they continue for a while in which case I get a case of the grumps, though whether that's just frustration or physiological I'm not sure!)

The cold you have Steff will be contributing to your high levels. It surprises me that all responses so far say they don't feel any different when hyper, I always feel cloudy headed and my thought process is so much slower and it isn't until I lower them that I begin to feel normal again. I hate being hyper as much as I hate being hypo, I suppose this is why my doctor thinks I am obsessive when it comes to testing but without having the means to test I could be in either place.:(

Toby my thoughts exactly,I always got signs sweating, bad head, slurry speech.

I nearly always feel very tired and get headaches and have trouble focusing my eyes when I'm running high.

Hope you feel better soon Steff.

I get very very tired when hyper - especially when I have too much carbohydrate. Definitely noticeable! Hope you feel better soon Steff. I also have a cold mixed with hayfever as well as a racking cough. Dosed up to the eyeballs at the moment. Surely so clean no bugs could possibly survive such an onslaught 😉 Must get totally well for the York meet.

I should clarify perhaps that I don't feel different when I get up into the mid teens unless it goes on for a few days. I certainly don't get any warning that my BGs are climbing. However, if I suddenly shot up into the high teens or low 20s, which has happened once or twice, then I would feel very ill indeed.

That cold seems to be getting around. While I no longer sound like Kermit, I'm still coughing well and sniffling too. Numbers are running between 7 and 12 at the mo which is not too bad considering.
