Hello. My husband was diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes. The only reason he got tested was bc he stayed thirsty all the time & google told me that was a sign of it, turns out he does have it. We know nothing about it. He is so upset about it and I am not sure how to make him feel better about it. Anyone been thru this themselves?

Hi MrsWorkman, welcome to the forum 🙂 It is upsetting to learn that you have diabetes, but try not to despair - it is something that can be controlled with the right knowledge and a little work, and it may be that he ends up feeling much happier and healthier than he was before he was diagnosed. Diabetes forces you to take a close look at your diet and lifestyle, and make adjustments that can lead to a much healthier way of living.

I would recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter, and the book Steff has recommended Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker as good starting points to understanding diabetes and how to manage it well. Please ask any questions you or he may have, and we will be happy to help - there are lots of people who have been through wht you and he are going through now, and it can be a real help to know that you are not alone in this, and that the future can be brighter than you might imagine. 🙂
