Hi, every so often I get really bad head, neck and face sweats out of the blue. I have recently noticed that sometimes it happens after I have taken my injections of M3 insulin. For example over the past 2 days I have been sweating loads! This evening I took my 30 units and within 15 mins it was pouring out and down my face?? Not sure if it is related or if it could be something else like lactose intolerance or caffeine?? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance

It’s not something I experienced related to insulin doses, except when my levels have gone low (one of the symptoms of low glucose levels can be sweating), But I only get that when my levels are really quite low, which is thankfully relatively rare.

Having said that, with the daytime temperatures for the last week or so I’ve been more or less continually sweating too.

Do you check your levels when you get these sweats?

There are some forms of excess sweating that can be linked to nerve damage related to diabetes, but I think you’d need someone suitably specialist and qualified to be able to discern if that was a possibility in your case?

I have read that if blood glucose is high it can affect peoples temperature regulation so they may feel the extremes of hot or cold weather more so getting symptoms like sweating or feeling cold.

I’m not a sweaty person at all, but these last few days I’ve been sweating on my face @Jenniw1990 However, what you’re describing sounds a bit extreme. Do you test your blood sugar when you get these sweats? I wonder if maybe your insulin is working quicker in the heat? Mine is.

I believe excess sweating can also be connected to thyroid problems, so that might be worth thinking about if it’s not low blood sugar. A hormone imbalance is also another possible reason. I’d keep a few notes about when it happens, what you were doing/had just done, and what your blood sugar was, then see if you can work out a cause.

Hi everyone, thanks for coming back to me yes I do test when this happens but the numbers are normal, which is why I think its so strange. I did read somewhere that if you inject too deeply into the muscle that it can speed up the absorption of insulin but don't know if that would cause something like this?

I’d imagine if that were the case, you’d be seeing low numbers, not normal numbers though?

This is why I am getting so confused. Today I havent had the sweats at all?? I've not done anything different to the past few days?

So haven't had anything at all for the last few days.....very strange, dont know if it could be that the hot weather caused my insulin to work better or that I was just being a sweaty mess lol

Interesting @Jenniw1990

So difficult to unpick these things that only happen intermittently!

Good to hear you’ve had a bit of respite from the sweating though. 🙂
