Animal insulin can also be tried.

Deus the criteria here for a pump begins with being type 1 so thats me counted out

Ah, didn't realise you were a T2. Still, worth pushing though. Although you're not 'officially' insulin dependent, you obviously still need some form of extraneous insulin, no matter how it's delivered.

Sue's point about animal insulins is also very good too, I understand that Lente is in many respects superior to the isophanes as it lasts much longer and has much less of a peak.

I am on Humulin M3 and it is working well for me. I understand there are different types or mixes of humulin so the others may well be different and work for other people.

I'm type 2 and had so many problems with metformin when I was in hospital getting my foot sorted out they tried me out on insulin to see how I got on. Having tried a couple I ended up with humulin m3

Quick update ,as i predicted the peak of insuman basal too early in the day for my needs and ended up at14 bg at bedtime so am not going to wait the agreed three days but will carb match from today🙂

Sadly this just making me feel ill ,one hour after basal heart feels weird and breathlessness getting worse day on day. Dns at gps not working and diabetes gp not working so rang hospital diabetes dept and she said dont take it anymore and ask gp for an urgent referral to consultant so that my basal problems can be sorted. Dreading tomorrow when i have to tell gp its not working as it happens too often and why i feel guilty i dont know but its an embarasment .Hubby told me I go white when its happening so something in it does not agree with me ....watch this space:(

Very sorry to hear this vikki :( It's not your fault, so don't be afraid of seeing the GP. I hope they can find an alternative for you.

Hi Vikki, sorry you had problems. Perhaps try either pork or beef insulin and see if that makes a difference.
