I just wondered if you could split the dose? Im on 28 units on a evening 20 in a morning, lets say on an evening im having a small tea and i take 20 if i get too high can i take the other 8 units later?

Ps i can spell question, but spell check carnt loll and No! i have not had a drink.

Hi Simon, your insulin is a mixture of long and short acting so altering it like you are asking could and would cause major issues. You need some short acting insulin in a separate pen so you can add the extra.

Is there any reason why you haven't been put on MDI? Because if you were on MDI then you could adjust your bolus to your needs.
 
Hi Sue i dont know why? I will call my DBN problem is its so inflexible if im not having much for tea 28 seems too much then having taken it so worry its too much, if i dont take enough im too high, but then i dont get a second chance

Hi Simon,
insist ever so politely that you are changed over to MDI. Are you seen at the hospital or GP practice? If it's the GP practice insist you are given a referral to a hospital based DSN and consultant.
 
Im seen by a regional DBN who i was referred to i have just spoke to her says i carnt double dose discussed another pen dosnt want to do that at this stage, its like tonightbim having a salad and 28 units just seems too much but apparently i can only have on shot at it, i dont know how much to use for a salad

Agree with Sue that enquiring about changing to MDI / basal bolus regime is a wise move. There is short acting insulin called Humalog (with no number after name).
