Advice please - I've been on Humalog Mix 25 since starting on insulin on 20th January. Started at 6 units before breakfast and 4 units pre-evening meal. This brought my levels down nicely but then we had to adjust and I was on 6 and 5. Now my levels have been rising again, fasting often high 8s/low 9s and so I've put the insulin up to 6 in the morning and 8 at night with my diabetic team's consent. I tested at 3 a.m. and I was 5.4 and this morning I was 6.2 before breakfast and then went UP to 9.8 before lunch having only eaten my usual breakfast of cereal and yoghurt and one slice of toast and butter.

Has anyone else been on Humalog Mix 25 and did you have to go onto something else as time went on or am I just having a funny turn ?

I have my 3-monthly blood test next Monday so these fluctuations have come at a really bad time as I was doing so well and now (yet again) feel a failure....grr I hate diabetes !!

Hey, I was on mixed insulin for a long time (16 years). I was always on a 30 mix though.

You say it's bad time - I would actually argue it's really good timing as you can show your dr/nurse what has been happening and ask for their advice 🙂

Diabetes sucks and I hate it too.

Yes I agree with you, Shiv, it may be a very good time in order that I can get things sorted again. What I meant to imply is I had been doing so well and the blood test this time will not reflect the very good lower levels I'd been getting because they will be superceded by the higher ones of recent days. Oh heck .....
