Welcome to the forum Noelle 🙂 x

Hi Noelle, welcome to the forum 🙂 What sort of insulin regime are you on? Have you done a carb-counting course, like DAFNE for example? Can you or your team find any explanation for your higher levels over the past 6 months, and what suggestions have they made so that you can improve things?

We have several members who are, or have been, in your situation of hoping to start a family, so you are not alone. I would suggest asking lots of questions, and the more we know about your own particular circumstances and difficuluties, the better people will be able to help. No question is considered 'silly' so don't be shy! 🙂

thanks for the quick reply's all.
I did the carb counting course about 2 weeks ago now. i was put on it for the fact i was thinking of pregnancy and that my sugars were high lately. One reason for it was that i was busy in work and was not getting time to take a proper lunch break and then at xmas it went quiet and i was made redundant. So i find myself sitting at home (while job hunting) and picking at food. its a nightmare. I cant wait to get back to work again and get back on track. though i have started exercising more in the past 2 weeks (4 times a wk) and have noticed a slight drop in my sugars. So its starting to take effect.
im on novorapid and levemir at the moment.
they have its a must my sugars need to be below 7 before i get pregnant. So im on the path so far. Due to have my hbA1c done again in 3 months. then we will go from there.
Have been reading some of the pregnancy posts, so im not alone.

Ah, that's good that you are carb-counting 🙂 When you are a bit more used to it you should find it easier to get tighter control of your levels. Great that you have begun exercising regularly too - I have always found that very beneficial to getting good, steady levels. You have a wonderful thing to aim for so a big incentive to try and stop nibbling when you shouldn't, or at least to find non-carby snacks that won't affect your levels 🙂

Good luck with working towards your pregnancy target Noelle.

Dropping from 10 to 7 is quite a big ask, so don't get impatient. I believe it is easier on the system (especially fine capillary blood vessels etc) if you improve slowly and steadily.

Hi Noelle and welcome to the forum. Best of luck hunny xx

Hi Noelle and a warm welcome from me too 🙂

Whilst I have never been pregnant (it's a gender thing, you know!) I can empathise with your struggles to get the old HbA1c down - I have been T1 for 28 years and have only recently had the inclination to improve mine - about the same time as I joined this forum, incidentally!

I'd like to wish you all the luck in achieving both your BG target, as well as the pregnancy thing. As a parent, myself, I can assure you that having children is an immensely satisfying and emotional goal - a life-changing experience if ever there was one.

I trust that, like me, you will get plenty of hints and tips for improving your control, from the experiences of others here.
