How to manage stress?

Hi everyone,

I am in need of some ideas please.

My 8yo T1D daughter has been experiencing a lot of more persistent highs lately and I've finally connected the dots with some help from school and it seems to be that she has a lot on her mind and is suffering stress and anxiety which is affecting her school work as well as her diabetes.

I don't want to go into too much detail but the stress seems to be coming from the issues that we are facing at the moment with her splitting her time between home and her dad's house.

She sees a therapist/counsellor once a fortnight, she has a worry monster and we do breathing techniques and some exercises to try and help relieve the stress. I have tried art therapy, play therapy, i do active listening but i'm running out of ideas of what else to try.

(School have started implementing some things as well to try and help at school)

If anyone has any suggestions of things to try to help her (and me) manage the stress I would greatly appreciate it. I'm willing to try anything at this stage.

Thank you

Sorry to hear that @Wednesday1221 It’s very upsetting to see your child stressed. It sounds like you’re doing everything right. I would also suggest Mindfulness for children, if you haven’t already tried it. There are books, of course, but there are also short videos on YouTube that help the child relax.
