Hi I’m new here. I have type 2. My daughter is a senior staff nurse and has this virus she’s ok doing well. She has told me not to go out stay home from work I’m 60. My HR department as told me if I get a doctors letter they will furlough me. The receptionist at the surgery told me they don’t do letters. Anyone with a solution greatly appreciated.

Hi Kevin,

A couple of official links here for you. Hope this helps.

If you can contact your boss or any management explain the situation and ask if they really want you to come into work and possibly bring the virus in with you.
Back in the 70s I was told to go into work when I had the flu and for a week I was the only person in the office.

Hi @Shrek59 - welcome to the forum. I"m sorry to hear your daughter has the virus, i hope she continues to keep well (and you too). Does she live with you, or have you been in contact with her? Could you use that as a reason to self-isolate?

Glad to hear your daughter is doing OK.

There does seem to be a degree of chaos and various gaps in the system unfortunately. We have had members being told by their GPs to self-isolate, because of specific individual circumstances, who then have problems accessing support because they didn‘t fit into the standard boxes.

Hope those .gov links provide you with helpful information. You might also try giving the DUK Helpline a call (office hours, Mon-Fri). The number is at the top of every Forum page 🙂
