THREE members of the same family today told how they were all diagnosed with type-1 diabetes – while they were still children.
John Beeston was 10 when he was diagnosed with the condition in the 60s, when far less was known about how to treat and manage diabetes.
Now aged 59, he spent 12 months in a diabetic coma before he was finally brought round and medics were able to manage his condition.
His future partner Kath Baird was just nine when she was diagnosed with the condition a decade later.
