I have spent the last week and a half or so wondering what I have been doing wrong with my insulin because my readings have in general been high. 😱

Could it be:

-?the time of the month?
-a cold or something
-had I miscalculated the amount of exercise I was doing
-did I keep getting the CHO content of my food wrong
-etc, etc, etc....

Finally it occurred to me to try changing my short acting insulin cartridge and suddenly things are pretty much back to normal 🙂? except that I can?t believe how long it took me to work it out!

My only excuse is that the cartridge I removed was still 2/3 full and I just assumed it was OK. (I now suspect it might have been one I had taken on holiday and brought back not used.)

Don't feel stoopid MCH it happens quite a bit, and thanks for sharing so we will all consider it when our number game is stranger than usual!! Still I'm sure it would take me a wee while to work it out too😉

it took me 5 nights once, to realise I had put quick acting insulin in my basal insulin pen - that was really dumb!

if it helps... I used two dodgy cartridges in the space of about 3 weeks 😉

Hello,

I had that recently where a rogue cartridge just didn't seem to be working. I ditched the whole pack and opened a new one in case it was a bad batch.

I've put bolus in my basal and basal in my bolus before :(

Took me a few days to figure out why I was feeling so bad when I was using SLOW in both needles.

But you realise pretty quickly when you've got FAST in both. I took 26 units (my normal SLOW dose) plus another 8 fast from my other needle to cover the meal. Think I had 2 cans of coke and 3 mars bars that day just to keep my levels up 😱

NiVZ.

I'm sure it would take me a few days too, as it's not the first thing I think when numbers are high, there are other options to consider first and so many things that affects numbers.
