Hi, I have a 07:20 flight on Sunday, which when booked seemed like a reasonable time. In the meantime I have switched my Lanctus from in the evening to 07:30 in the morning.

When should I look to take the Lanctus? When the plane starts boarding (around 7:00ish) or when the plane is in the air - which should be by 08:00 but could be later.

If its the earlier do I leave it as late as possible and risk arrest for indecent exposure (I inject in my bum) or find the nearest toilet which will be miles from the gate and therefore require earlier injection.

Is it worth risking getting on the plane and hoping the stewardess is understanding and will let me pop into the toilet once the plane is boarded?

I won't have an issue with the NovoRapid as I usually inject this around 6:30 with breakfast which I plan to have at the airport (may have a snack before setting off...).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I take Lantus in the mornings too, and we usually rise about an hour later on the weekends than during the weeks. This rarely seems to make much if any difference for me, so I would feel fine moving the injection an hour either way from 'normal' time.

There's no way you'd be allowed into a toilet during boarding, as crew need to see how many are on board.

How about injecting into abdomen, requiring less exposure? As already said, an hour or so either way won't make much difference.

Have a good trip.

Or how about thigh? That would be my 2nd choice for basal and should be reachable fairly discreetly in an aircraft seat (and a more similar absorption speed to buttocks I find)

yep agree with the others - an hour either way will be fine. Personally I'd wait until you're on the plane.

Just to help, could you delay your lantus by half an hour the day before? then this gives you a little bit of extra lee-way when you're on the plane.

Have a great holiday! (if it is a holiday!, if not, have a great trip!)
