Every 6 months, occasionally at 3 months too if there's been a problem

Me too but we're lucky being with the Elsie Bertram who are pretty sharp on it all

My gp said every 3 months

Every 3 - 6 months, depending on when my next clinic appointment is booked!

I go every 4 months at the moment because my HbA1c is a little high.

If you go every 3 or 4 months is it because your result is a bit high, you are newly diagnosed or because it's standard where you go for treatment?

Standard treatment but this is children's

Every 3 to 4 months depending on when i can get an appointment.

Every 6 months, in theory. Had the last one in January but my next appointment got changed to October, so I've arranged to have it done through my GP next week.

still new to me, last time, which was the first time after diagnosis (I think) he said come back in 9 months?

Can I ask for one before if I'm concerened? Not sure if I am mind!

I'm surprised they didn't ask you back sooner than 9 months if you're newly diagnosed. I had one about 6 weeks after diagnosis, then another one 6 months later. 11.8 at diagnosis, then 6.7, then 5.3 - I'm expecting it to be about 3.5 next week at this rate!😱😉

I was thinking of doing this because I agreed to 6 months with the stand-in doctor even though my result was still a bit high. And I want to know well before I got to Austrailia. I'll ask the GP on monday 🙂

I think I went back in 6 months. They leave it a while to give you time to get your levels down a bit because if you went in 3 months they would probably still be high from before diagnosis!

quite the opposite I once went, and they forgot about me!! 3 hrs wasted!!

😱😱 goodness me rossi how could they forget you

ok own up, who doesn't attend their appointments? 😛

Me. I find them very upsetting. Being given a row for high results due to following to the letter their so-called "healthy eating" recommendations. I now eat lower carb which doc told me to stop even though my HBA1c reduced from 12.7% to 7.2% in the first 3 months of doing it. Pressure also about testing and the awful side effects of various tablets just dismissed. My present diet has let me come off all tablets.

I get me own HBA1Cs done every so often through a kit you buy (called Glucomen?) and send off to a lab but the poll did not allow one to give 2 answers!

I read this forum with a great deal of interest but tend to lurk rather than actively participate.

Hi Hermit,

I can't believe you took it upon yourself to improve your own health by reducing the carbs you eat, but your doctor was unsupportive!! All I can say is well done for getting your HbA1c down so far without the support of your team 🙂

Was it a GP or diabetes specialist?
