I know that for me its to much way I see it is that its my outside link to the world out there. Its been brought home to me as house internet went down last night and has only just come back

I rely on it totally @gail2. We had a really bad time when we switched to superfast broadband earlier in the year and it was off/intermittent for around 6 weeks.
As I work from home, I rely on the internet to hook into my NHS VPN. We spent hours on the phone to BT and eventually it was fixed, but I still view Open Reach vans in the neighborhood with deep suspicion!

Society has told me I need the internet, whether I want it or not, Covid reinforced the fact that I needed the internet just to say hello to someone.
I don't like the way technology is governing our lives in general, but I guess that's progress, well, that's what the tech guys call it.
To some it's great, to others, maybe not so great.
Could I live without it, sadly no

Aint life fun

My wife works from home. We had issues awhile back. Though, I set her up using the data on her phone when things got sketchy. The WiFi router was after a power cut. (Some digging happening down the road.) after I’d investigated the router. We got a BT technician who thought it was a thunder storm. But I know it happend a few days before with the power outage. His scans confirmed my memory. (Not the storm.) Regarding the consistency of connection. Either way, it looked like a spike had caused a surge routing through the socket? New socket fixed the consistency.

To much I know, but it’s a utility, without the internet I couldn’t do my job systems are cloud based although I don’t stay at home like some work at homers, I’m home / field based, mrs @goodybags and I both watch TV through the internet, we wouldn’t have this forum without being online, I wouldn’t be able to book a GP appointment or see my health records, in-fact our heating doesn’t turn on when the Wi-Fi connected thermostat/ programmer hours off line
