Furious Greater Manchester MPs have launched a series of stinging attacks on the region’s radical health shake-up.
In a parliamentary debate the Healthier Together consultation – which started earlier this month – was dubbed a ‘charade’, ‘gobbledegook’ and ‘rubbish’.
One MP said the NHS had learned nothing from previous consultations, comparing the latest one to ‘Groundhog Day’.
Many hospitals would lose specialist surgery and GP care would be beefed up in the biggest reforms for decades.
NHS bosses say the plans are doctor-led and would save both lives and cash.
But MPs fear they will have the opposite effect – wasting money while putting people at risk.
