If you are only managing by diet or just metformin then a good suggested starting point is no more than 130g carbs per day, obviously it is better for them to be spread between your meals, any snacks and drinks rather than a huge carby meal.hi all, i'm a week in from diagnosis, trying to follow low carb, just wondered how many carbs a day am i aiming for, thanks
There is a lot to wade through in the Freshwell program, I have had a skim through and can't immediately see it but if you are following the menu plan you could work out the carbs for each meal.just on metformin, being sort of following the freshwell meal planner, how many is that based on per day

The 130g comes from both the NHS and on the main DUK site but is very much up to the individual to decide if that suits them or do they need to go lower.
No more than 130g per day as said earlier in the tread with the provisos about your own tolerance and medication.HI, I am type 2 diabetic and on a weight management program. I am trying to get to grips with the amount of carbs to eat on a daily basis, as I know I need to have carbs but want to try and reduce the amount that I am eating. Thanks in Advance. Anne x
