Type 2
I was diagnosed type 2 in May 2016 which was a big shock. I did a lot of research online ( Professor Tim Noakes) and decided that LCHF was the best course of action despite the NHS and Expert course advice, I went back for my 12 month review with the diabetic nurse and my hba1c had gone from 102 to 34. I was told I could stop taking the Metphormin that I hadn't taken since November and she said the doctor had said that if I keep these results for the next 2 years she will take me off the diabetic register. I cut my carbs down to approx. 40g per day, eat loads of broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, Brussel spouts, mixed salad, steaks, 100% beef burgers and pork belly strips for dinner. I tend to eat only one meal a day and 2 years on my hba1c is 32. If I had followed the "eat well plate" advice I would certainly not be in the good healthy position that I am in now.

Hello @Ian Laye , welcome to the forum. You have done really well. As you read post on here you will find the majority of us on this forum have vastly reduced our carbohydrates in some way , LCHF, Keto, paleo etc we are also very dismissive of that Eatwell plate or whatever it’s called now.

WELL DONE IAN - Fantastic! I don't give up hope of reversing my diabetes T2. But is finding what works for me.

Brilliant result Ian. I was diagnosed in June this year and really reduced my carbs and upped my exercise. Going on a DESMONDS course actually frightened me about fat intake but reading your thread I think I'll be taking a leaf out of your book especially as I could do with putting a few pounds on. Well done again.

Hi @Ian Laye
I was diagnosed type 2 just last month. It’s been a shock. Good to know that diet can have such a huge impact! Did you test your blood glucose regularly?

Well done Ian. Have you researched anything other than former sports scientist Noakes? I'm not sure most people would manage on one meal a day.

Hi Judith, For the first year or so I tested regularly before food and again 2hrs after, but now I test a couple of times a week just to make sure things are still ok.
