So my ratios are pretty much set. However it seems if I have a little stress or a little illness (Which may or may not develop into anything) My requirments go up by 20% or so.

So How do you judge this if you dont actually feel ill / or too stressed.. Maybe your blood sugars are the first signs that you may be ill or deep down you may be a bit stressed? Therefor e you cant anticipate it and the first you know about needing to add on your 20% is you have a couple of parculiar high readings over a couple of days. So you decide right its time to hit the illness / stress button on your metre and it works..

So when do you decide its time to go back to the norm? When you hit one almight hypo? or would you try returning to your norm every couple of days or so?

Welllllll - the only answer is test test test and interpret the results.

I mean I notice instantly 'I'm not usually this high first thing/pre lunch/pre dinner/pre-bed' so you correct and see what happens and if it happens again tomorrow as you say just hit the stress button.

You can predict stress - like I know I am doing something next week that's new and difficult and gotta be taken seriously and first I have to drive 30 miles in the rush hour across Birmngham to get there. Then finding a parking space which could so easily be the most stressful part of the whole day.

So I'm FULLY expecting my BG to be high that day, if not the day before. But I can't afford to pre-empt it because I can't afford to get up that morning and not be able to get in my car at 6.45 am on the dot as planned and as far as poss across the M6 'Midland Links' by 7.00 am. (for an 8.30 am start) (40 mins journey door to door - when there's no traffic) (took us half an hour to just find a parking spot that time! 10 mins walk away)

So I'll just do very conservative corrections as I go along. And then I expect the lunch will all be stuff I don't know the carbs for off the top of me head cos that's what happens time after time anyway .....!

Just play it by ear and hope your ear's in tune ......

Urgh that sounds horrible! I full on avoid driving round Birmingham! Good luck. and thanks for the advice! Its pretty much the way I go its just realising it sooner I think!

Well it's literally just stay on the M6 from Jct 3 (Aaaarrgghh Spag Jct in the rush hour!) till I get off at Jct 8 and then go to West Brom. So it's only the one road basically, just that it's about The Worst Road anywhere round here! And that's from the woman who happily commuted up and down the A456 (Hagley Rd !) daily.

I just so have to be there very very early so I can chill out a bit before girding up me loins to do the work!

When Im not well i can have sugar around 15 -20 and its difficult to get it down. Lots of insulin and it doesnt really work. Last time when I was on antibiotics I felt very awful. I test a lot and when have my first hypo then get back to normal doses 🙂
