QUOTE=Steff2010;100221]Keep your fluids up and bed rest for most you can drink sugar free drinks i now have warm blackcurrant keeps my throat from getting sore.[/QUOTE]
i totally agree with steff keep your fluids up, and if you have a sore throat, you can take strepsils or at least they don't affect me, my husband even phoned the company that make strepsils explaining that i was diabetic and they said that they are perfectly ok but obviously this does not apply to everyone.
I guess you could go down the warm blackcurrent route but if in any doubt check with your doctor
if you are achey, and hot paracetemol works wonders, but again if uncertain check with doctor or pharmacist as there is loads of stuff that works equally well. Agree on plenty of sugar free fluids too. I like hot blackcurrant, but also hot orange squash works well too.
Steven - as you're newly diagnosed, you should ask your diabetes team about dealing with colds and other infections - usually called "sick day rules". As an example, see West Suffolk Hospital advice at http://www.diabetesuffolk.com/managingdiabetes/Sick day rules.htm
