I was wondering if anyone else notices bg levels increase when it's hot weather? Mine are higher over the last couple of days and nothing else is different. Trying to not stress about it which I realise doesn't help but it's frustrating as I'm doing well with diet changes and weight loss:confused:

Hi. It is frustrating isn't it.
The weather/seasons affect quite a few of us, I keep having to reduce my insulin atm.
Are yours going up by much ?

Mine are all over the place, they don't seem to know whether they want to be higher or lower, so they're doing a bit of both!

Hello Nutty. I think everything affects us! Agh, nightmare. I must tell my sister about the insulin being affected, I only just learnt that on here and I know for a fact she won't know. My levels haven't been bad though, mostly all 6s which I can live with. Would have panicked a bit back in the day, would prefer 5s but I've become calmer and more stoic. 🙄

Ljc, struggled to get it below 8 yesterday and it definitely wasn't the food as eating low carb foods which don't spike my levels. Woke up to 10.1 this morning😱 Generally struggle with higher morning levels so think I'm going to have to exercise in the mornings to manage this better. I could do some hiit with the body coach on YouTube before work as it doesn't take too long. It has the added bonus that it's free and don't have to leave the house!

I seem to be going slightly lower. If it keeps up today, may have to tweak ratios.

So mixed. Usually I'm more active in warm weather, although if it gets really hot, I tend to reduce cycling speeds a bit and stay in shade in middle of day. Looking forward to first lido swim of the year when I have days off early next week.

I normally have to more or less double my insulin doses in the summer - haven't had to do that so far this year as I'm on a different insulin and that seems to have helped, but yes, my bg levels increase a lot in hot weather, @Nuttynurse. As you're not on meds I suspect the only things you can do are to drink lots and lots of water and keep splashing yourself with cold water or whatever you can do to try to keep your body temperature down as much as possible.

Hi @Nuttynurse . @TheClockworkDodo is right About the water, best to sip it though rather than drink lots in one go.
If you can share some of your higher BGs with me I'd much appreciate it :D

I'm trying 11 units of basal today . Think I'll knock another half unit of my bolus as well.

I Hope everyone BGs start behaving themselves soon.

Thank you for the advice and reassurance that I'm on the right path with my theory. I struggle with extremes of temperature due to hypothyroidism - I'm not one of those who's cold all the time. I fluctuate between feeling too hot or too cold. I might have to advise my manager at work as our building is unbearably hot in summer and I've had to go into the office more this week to use computers as laptops are out of action following the recent cyber attack (I'm a community nurse so generally out and about a lot) Damn those cyber criminals 😛
