Hospitals in Wales are dealing with an alcohol-related admission every 35 minutes on average, new figures reveal.
Statistics obtained by the news website WalesOnline* show the number of admissions to Welsh hospitals where alcohol was a primary or secondary diagnosis reached 14,907 in 2012-2013.
The figures also show alcohol consumption has remained a persistent problem for the NHS with 15,166 admissions in 2011-2012 and 15,253 in 2010-2011.
The website says Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board saw the highest number of admissions in 2012-2013, standing at 3,521, followed by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board at 3,016 and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board at 2,411.
