After seeing my consultant yesterday about varying bs levels, he sent me for blood tests to check for other antibodies associated with other immune disorders for which the nurse took 3 tubes of blood. Was told i would be booked in for a whole day to have other tests such as a biopsy of stomach and a few other things. Had a call today to be booked in for just a cortisol test in 2 weeks time. The test will be be for 1 hour. From what i understand they will give me sufficent insulin to drop my bs levels to near hypo or induced hypo😱 and test my cortisone levels every 15 mins for 1 hour. This will allow them to see if my body is producing sufficient cortisone levels. Cant help thinking they found antibodies in my blood to have this done quickly as i wasnt expecting this so soon.

Hopefully the tests will determine what may be wrong so it can be treated and you can start to get more stable blood sugars Brett, I will keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome 🙂

Thanks northener

Had some bloods for various antibody tests done on tue and phoned consultants secretary this morning to get my results. Was first told they are all back and to phone later after the consultant had gone through them. When i phoned back later she said she had made a mistake and theyre not back. Was told that the antibody tests take a week or more to be done, and reminded that i am to go to the hospital for my cortisol test on wednesday 9th April so to wait till then. Is she not telling me something?

Is she not telling me something?
Yep the results :D
The sec is not allowed to tell you the results as she is not medically qualified.

Thnks sue, she did give me one result which was the ck results ans said this was ok- think its do with the condition of muscles, but none of the other antibody results, after saying they were all in.

Obviously after checking the results she has realised that not all are in yet. Mistakes can be made so don't worry about it.

Antibody tests do take awhile to come back

We're all watching and waiting with you Brett! 😱

I wonder if it's a sort of resurgent honeymoon period. Now you see it, now you don't, now you do again.

Must be hell for you not knowing but the cortisol theory sounds feasible and I would imagine it's not too difficult to treat (I hope anyway). 🙂

As a matter of interest Brett, what time in relationship to your meal do you inject your Rapid insulin?

Thanks rob im wondering the same as i am now needing 4 units lantus and maybe more as im still in the sevens in the morning. still needing odd ratios of quick acting needing1/8 b/fast 1/40 at lunch and back down to 1/15 for tea. With these ratios im not having hypos.

i have read with low cortisone it shows more early afternnon to tea which corresponds with my afternoon ratio. Still hypo on excercising without any quick acting insulin and having a snack. hard playing the waiting game as im sure all you have with one thing or another.

If you had low cortisol levels and they were causing your hypos then carbs would not fix the problem.
I remember well when I had undiagnosed addison's I had to consume over 500 carbs and could not rise above the hypo level and that was without any insulin for 48 hours.

Hi sue, sorry just seen this. Used to inject nearly straight away before eating with dramatic highs and lows after. After some advice on another thread i started injecting 30 mins before food. This did help for a short but with no real consistancy
