Relatives of the only survivor of the Newcastle nursing home poisoning case are struggling to come to grips with how their family matriarch almost died after being injected with high levels of insulin she never needed.
As the recovery of Audrey Manuel, 91, continues to be a day-to-day proposition, the horror that greeted her family nearly a fortnight ago is quickly turning to anger.
Mrs Manuel was one of three patients from the SummitCare Wallsend aged-care home, Sugarloaf Gardens, who were rushed to hospital after becoming hypoglycaemic after being given high doses of insulin.
