So I moved to Rogerstone, an area near Newport, South Wales, earlier this year, and had to leave my beloved pump clinic in Aberystwyth, where I was always looked after really well. I told my new GP that I did not want to be referred to the Royal Gwent hospital because I had been treated there before when I previously lived in Newport, and was treated really badly and had a really crap time. So I ended up at the Royal Gwent anyway 😡

First thing they do is have my name and my address wrong. Then they make it really awkward when I need to change my appointment (which I had to write a letter to them to get in the first place, as they have just been ignoring me up til now). Then they can't give me an appointment. Then when they eventually get back to me they don't give me a time for the appointment. When I try to ring them, they don't pick up, and when I email them, they don't respond.

So, I have written to the LHB to get them to change me to the Heath hospital, which is renowned for it's care of pump users, and is only 5 miles further away. I hope they say yes. I wrote all about my crappy experiences with the Royal Gwent, and their complete incompetency. I really hope they let me change!

Has anyone else had this? Where they have been able to change to a different hospital because they weren't happy with the care they were given before?

We changed hospital due to poor care, no nursing support, frequently cancelled clinics, and all-round cr@pness. It takes us longer now, as we have to catch a train into London, but I wish we'd done it years before we did! Why couldn't you stay with Aberystwyth and just do the longer journey?

I really wanted to stay in Aber, I begged them several times, but they said that they wanted me to live in the area if I stayed with them, for my own good. I was so sad when I left. I think if I got into the Heath I would be happy. I just hope they let me! 🙂

I down load all my pump stuff on internet. Only takes a min or two. I was going along in my van next day & got a phone call from nuse to ajust basal ! Tech ! 😎 Good luck 🙂
