Is honey an acceptable alternative to sugar, I would like to use half a teaspoon in a salad dressing?

Honey IS sugar - your body doesn't differentiate between sugar from a packet or sugar in a 'natural' source. Half a teaspoon isn't a great deal of sugar but it's entirely dependent on the individual whether or not it's too much.
