Why are all natural sugars ie honey a no no to T2 why sugar subsitutes are ok ? Am I being daft but pre dx I always used unrefined sugar ie brown or mainly a bit of honey when needed but now drink aspathmine(spelling sorry) laced non sugar drinks how does the body tell/deal with the difference ?

Natural sugar is carbohydrate and will raise blood sugar levels, but the sweeteners (most of them) are of a form whose composition means that they do not get absorbed by the gut, which is why they can cause tummy problems -that's my understanding of it 🙂
