not sure if it is correct, was reading the news and apparently they are reporting that millions of home test kits are going to be sent out -

only time will tell if it is a true article.
 
They are antibody tests to see if you have had it. Work best after the illness. Better than nothing, mind.

From what I have read they have not been tested yet to see if they are reliable.
 
Listening to Whitty last night..... This is what I thought I heard. There are two tests under development. An antigen test which will determine if you are infected and an antibody test to see if you have been infected. Both are in final testing to make sure they work because as Whitty said, a test that gives the wrong result is worse than no test at all. Somehow the test kits (not sure whether it was either or both) would be delivered by Amazon but then things get very vague. Vagueness is understandable, somebody is still trying to work out how best to use them. Unclear whether they will be given to everybody or they will be available to buy from Amazon.

I'm guessng that it will be at least a couple of weeks before anything is available. I'm also guessing that in the first instance they will all go to the NHS.

If there is an upside, you need to get a blood spot to test and just about everybody on here is expert at that.
 
Sounds to me as this is another sound bite to sound good, but very little on the detail.

Most importantly, when the kits are available. If you get a result showing you have had the covid19 virus, will you be allowed out of the lockdown? Or will police still be fining or detaining people regardless of the fact they are no risk to anybody?

Like everything else, the detail has not been spelled out. Its either because it hasn't been thought through, or it has, and the PR people are saying that publishing it would make the government look bad.
