Me again.

My 780G came today. I was surprised when it didn't come with a silicone case, seen a few people say they come with one. My main worry is it seems very flimsy & very easy to damage. Id go as far as saying easier to smash or damage as in iPhone and trust me ive smashed a few of them in my time.

Im just wondering if anyone uses any sort of holsters, split between buying the basic silicone case or one from a brand named Type 1 Tactical.

I never found any kind of case or skin necessary for my MM640G. I just used the belt clip that was supplied.

I found it better for the pump to hand horizontally, so I generally attached to my belt via a looped elasticated hair scrunchie which also made it easier to tilt the pump to view the screen.

That is interesting. On the Combo we were advised to have the lower lock in the pump at the bottom so that any bubbles in the insulin rise away from the tubing. I was surprised that all the pictures of the 780 and the clip requires it to be held with the tubing coming out at the top.
I am sticking to my pouch so it is not a problem.

@Maco in the accessories bit of Medtronic they have a variety of cases available.

@SB2015 I’ve ended up ordering a holster from type 1 tactical, the belt clip looks a lot better & the overall protection is night & day compared to the Medtronic silicone case. My main reason for wanting something a lot more sturdy is because of my job, in & out the van all day etc I always drop my phone from my pocket..

Just wondering, have you had any issues with the minimed mobile app? Had a little play with my pump earlier even though I don’t start training till the 7th & I set it up with the app. Anyway every time I close the app from running in the background it logs me out & makes me pair back up with my pump. Seemed odd & it’s not something I’d want running constantly in the back background as I’m guessing it will use quite a bit of my mobile battery

I have just left mine running in the background. @everydayupsanddowns checked how much memory he was using with his system and it was minuscule. I have only just got going again yesterday and had to redo the pairing as I had had the pump turned off for a fortnight. I will let you know.

It’s a while since I used it, but it didn’t cause me any battery problems to keep it running full time - there’s a slight ‘hit’ to run with Bluetooth on, but I’d been doing that anyway for other things, I tend not to have push notifications on and keep the screen brightness down. I guess it partly depends on how stretched your battery life is already. Mine is generally fine for a day an a half (currently running Dexcom app 24/7) so a nightly charge is plenty.
