I’ve just returned from a fabulous holiday in Florida with my son and family. I went with a degree of trepidation, as, having spent the last year or so getting on top of my diet and keeping BG levels good, I was concerned about undoing all the benefits of careful food choices. We spent four nights at a hotel and the rest of the time with relatives and friends. Knowing that food and portion sizes in America could be excessive and not exactly the type I am now used to and not wanting to appear fussy and picky, I reluctantly decided to go with the flow ( to a certain extent ) and enjoy all that was on offer without continually worrying about my diet. I also decided to cut back on BG testing knowing full well that I would be suffering unwanted and normally avoidable ‘spikes’. I’ve no idea what effect my carefree indulgence will have on my HbA1c average in the longer term but I’ve got to say that the experience was very enjoyable and psychologically. uplifting. Back home and back to the old regime of healthy eating, I have no regrets about my lapse from grace and would encourage others to consider a similar attitude in the short term.

Hi @Browser , great to hear that you had an enjoyable holiday. It can be hard to manage portion sizes abroad as you said. Pleasing that you have been able to slot back into your old regime and have had a liberating experience as a result. Thanks for sharing your success and I hope that you are feeling suitably uplifted after your break! :D
