Mornign All , 🙂

I am going on holiday on Monday off the Ibiza ( not the party part , well maybe one night ) , and i was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of , I know it seems a silly question but this is my first holiday classed as "diabetic"

Answers on a postcard please :D

As you are just on metformin at the moment then you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If you drink, then you need to take things slowly to find out how the alcohol affects you. Some people find they are able to drink moderately on metformin, but others choose not to. Diabetes UK have a Travel section with lots of information about what to look out for:

Just like to say have a good holiday 🙂

Well im all packed and fully stocked with tablets , lancets and test strips and some holiday reading ( books recommended by you guys ) bit stressed  but no idea why maybe cause it's the first holiday as a "Diabetic" Lol , also looked at the weather report and it's gonna be in the high 80's , still need to sort out my insurance though any recomendations from anyone would be good 🙂

Can't recommend any, haven't had to do it for years because ours is 'Free' (LOL) with our Bank account.

However - two things - check the small print and what they say about 'pre-existing medical conditions' - if they exclude em and won't include yours when you tell em about it, then don't pay for it, thinking oh it's alright, I'll only use it if I eg break my leg. Don't - if you break your leg it may come out in medical reports that you are diabetic; you haven't told em, so all they have to do in law is cancel the cover from the ouset and refund the premium less their admin costs. ie you will get nowt back, and have to pay all the costs of the broken leg in furrin parts yourself.

I have never had to pay more for my diabetes, as long as it was that I only had that. As soon as I got summat else, I had to pay more .....

Second thing is - you are supposed to take the cover out when you book so that if anything dire happens in the interim, so you have to cancel, you can claim any money you can't get back off the travel company, from your insurance ..... just do it asap !

All Done , used the diabetes uk recomendation Lambert Health , told them all about my Type 2 , tablets etc etc etc and it came in at ?25.00 , Boots wanted ?76 and First choice ( who we booked the holiday with ) ?75.00

Orchid is quite happy :D
