hi, I'm new. I don't have diabetes myself but care for my partner who is insulin dependent and suffers very badly with his diabetes. A recent change in medication has meant he's been hypoing every day sometimes twice but I've helped him countless times over the yrs and had an ambulance out to him 3 times in the past 18 mths. His hypos range from acting like a drunk to being very aggresive and violent and smashing things up to being virtually unconscious. His sister suggested I register on here after we just spent the weekend staying with them and he hypoed twice which she hadn't witnessed before. She's about a 3 hrs drive away and I have no other support/anyone to talk to.......so here I am!

Hello tess and welcome to the site , you will learn a lot from it but I must say from the outset , yes it does change personalities when in hypo but violence is un expectable , please dont take that as something that is normal , because it isn't , we get grumpy because our body's go into a kind of shock , but I have not met one person yet since having the illness that has struck a woman . I may be wrong but others will post on here and tell you ,, by the way . You are in the right place and again as others will say .. You are welcome.
My beautiful women is finding things hard but still trying to find out as much as she can . without any violence from me ,
Being diabetic DOES NOT MAKE YOU VIOLENT HON . Just moody lol . Good luck xx

I dont think Tess meant violent towards her Darren. I can definitely say when I had a hypo once I became quite combative - and this was whilst in hospital and they were trying to help me and husband was told it can be normal.

My friend who is diabetic has also been known to smash something.

Welcome to the forum Tess - I am sure you will learn so much whilst on here and receive the much needed support you will benefit from.🙂

Hi Tess, welcome to the forum 🙂 What changes have been made to his insulin regime? He shouldn't be having so many hypos (as I'm sure you are aware). Basically, he is getting too much insulin for the amount of carbohydrate he is eating. How long has he been diagnosed?
