I had a heart attack and discovered I am diabetic. I am finding it tricky to combine the two diagnoses. Sometimes I concentrate on heart stuff and sometimes on diabetic. Mostly things coincide.

Welcome

Do you have some examples of the kind of things that are difficult to combine the two diagnoses? Maybe we’ll have some ideas to help.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your heart attack, was that recent, I hope you are well on the road to recovery. Did they tell you the result of your HbA1C as that will indicate how far into the diabetic zone you are and how much work needs to be done.
Have you been prescribed any medication for your diabetes as that will influence what dietary measures are safe to make.
We can point you in the right direction with a bit more information about those things.
Gaining as much knowledge as you can will help you understand how best to manage your condition so having a look at the relevant part of the Learning Zone (orange tab at the top) may help.
This link also may have some ideas which may be suitable depending on the medication you have been given. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com

As a multi-diagnosis person I would say focus on the areas where both diagnosis match up, eg healthy food choices, while reducing sugars, and avoiding too many carbs in one meal (carbs get converted to sugar by your body).

I'm sure others can give more specific advice than me if they know your HbA1C and if you are on any diabetes meds / insulin

Welcome @couchbeings 🙂 Sorry to hear about your heart attack. I hope you’re on the road to recovery and are getting good support.

Are you on any meds for the diabetes?

Welcome to the forum @couchbeings

Sorry to hear you’ve been hit with a double-whammy of health challenges.

Diabetes carries a risk of heart problems, so hopefully many of the treatments and suggestions should have a fairly heart-healthy direction, along with the additional screening etc you get with a diabetes diagnosis.
