Relationship to Diabetes
Other Type
hi everyone.
I'm 39 and was diagnosed with type 2 aged 31.
my doctors diabetes nurse couldn't keep my blood sugars stable. said I wasn't following protocol so was referred to the diabetes team at the hospital.

the specialist there was a little baffled as well and wondered if I was really type 1. results were negative .

after my last consultant visit his report said he thought I had something called Flatbush diabetes or ketosis prone diabetes and no other information.

ive never heard of this and don't see him again for a year as my blood sugar is behaving at the moment and my hb1c or whatever it's called is 45.

does anyone here have this type?

Hiya - I'm not surprised the GP nurse was less than expert - I've never heard of it before either. All the references Google led me to seem to be in the USA and Asia, but no reason I spose why someone elsewhere might not get it. What I read said it can go into spontaneous remission, so just maybe yours might have?

I really haven't a clue!

thank you for replies, and link yes google doesnt have a lot of info on it, the consultant couldnt even remember the name of it when i was in my appointment, he must have researched it after i left.
ive only needed insulin or medication about 6 times in the last 9 years but i get hypos often, its very weird.
