FIGHTING DIABETES: Christina Roth of Hingham was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 14, which she said was devastating at the time. But after accepting her condition, it fueled her passion to help others her age with the disease.
By the time she was a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2009, she created the College Diabetes Network, an online support group for college students with diabetes.
?There really was no way to contact others or find resources for us, so we made our own,? said Roth, now 24, and CEO of the network. ?We?re now a national nonprofit with 36 chapters throughout the country and 80 campus contact groups.?
