I was slightly concerned last night - I had a big bowl of stir-fry with pork (pork was barbecued) and egg noodles (probably more than usual...🙄); 1hr later my reading was 7.4; 2hrs later a staggering 10.4; and 3hrs later 8.5....

Woke up this morning with a 5.5

Do numbers normally fluctuate this quickly...

They can do, yes. Do you know what your level was before the meal? Although high to what you are used to seeing they are not too dreadful, so don't become overly concerned - I imagine a lot of my meals would follow this pattern if I was to test as you have done. 🙂 Unless it starts happening with meals that you are normally OK with, it is probably just a blip 🙂

I didn't test beforehand because I'm low on strips; however recent readings have been in the low 5's. Will this affect my 2nd HbA1c which I'm due in a few weeks time....? My waking levels have also been low 5's... 🙂

No, it will only have the tiniest impact, and possible not a measurable effect 🙂 I don't think you need worry about your HbA1c, given your excellent fasting levels 🙂

Its strange; when I'm testing; eating healthy and doing more physical exercise and seeing the results with weight loss and generally feeling better I feel in control - when I speak to the DN I feel scared because its always focusing on the negative...I feel like screaming 'I KNOW.....'. :(

P.S. I have bought a rowing machine....and a decent pair of trainers xx🙂

Some DSNs are very positive with a glass-half-full approach, for some their glass is half empty! Don't let any negative comments drag you down - they don't have your diabetes so don't understand what makes you feel good and what you don't need telling. I remember a podiatrist giving a talk at my diabetes education course - she was basically saying WHEN you get ulcers, foot problems etc. rather than IF, and half the people in the room were only about 20 - it really dragged them down! The possibilities shouldn't be glossed over, but there is an awful lot to be positive about!

Congratulations on buying the rowing machine! Wish I had one, it was always my favourite piece of equipment when I went to the gym 🙂

The worse thing is she has diabetes; the first thing she said to me was re: heart attack/stroke. 2nd conversation when I had my flu jab - heart attack/stroke...I wanted to cry...:(

She sounds like the life and soul of the party! 😱 I get a bit fed up when I meet people who are like that with me because I'm more than likely much healthier than they are! I wouldn't be surprised if your levels are much better than hers too, having followed your story since you joined here 🙂
