Type 1
Hi, been diagnosed as a type 1 about 2 years back just when I crossed 50 years of age.

My HbA1c is about 6.5 on regular basis but last few days my fasting sugars have been touching 200 mg/dl.

My question is if it is OK for me to inject insulin without food to bring the level down?

All advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum 🙂

Most of our members are UK based and we work in mmol rather than mg/dl but looking at a conversion chart that would put you around 11mmol

Yes your specialist etc should've worked with you at some point since your diagnosis to establish a correction ratio

I would also look at reasons as to what could be causing the higher fasting readings, is it your previous evenings meal that isn't being covered enough? are you coming down with something? is your basal insulin needing adjusted etc
xx
