Hello Nicky, welcome to the forum. Hopefully some parents will be along soon to help answer your question.

Your daughter isn't coming down with something is she? That can have an adverse affect on the levels.

Anyway, I hope that you can get them sorted soon.

Best wishes,

Andy

Nicki I think you need to speak to your team as Mixtard has been discontinued. So hopefully you can get your daughter on an insulin regime that will suit her better and reduce those high readings you are getting

Hi Nicki have you found the Children With Diabetes emailing list? It's an invaluable resource for parents - lots of parents emailing each other daily, offering each other support and advice.

Mixtard is a pretty 'old school' way of doing things - have you considered a basal/bolus regime, in which you'd be giving an injection (or two) of long acting insulin, and an injection with each meal? It is more injections - but generally offers greater freedom (ie snacking - if she wants to snack, she can have some extra insulin to cover it) and control 🙂

There is also the pump, which is connected to the body 24/7 via tubing and delivers a constant stream of insulin to the body (which you pre-programme) and then you can set it to give extra insulin when eating 🙂
