Hi.... Still kinda new to this... Had sugery yesterday at 14:00, got home at about 8pm. Sugars quite high last night, I.e.17.8 but my fasting one at 5am was 13'7, followed by a 17.5.....20.1 and now 22.1. could tho be a sign of infection? Or is it normal to go high after surgery?
Feeling pretty rough..... Normally take 1metphormin twice daily.

I'd say it's pretty normal to go higher after surgery (from the experiences of others that I have read here, not personally). The surgery will have placed stress on your body and it will be fighting now to recover. When stressed the stress hormones can cause the liver to release extra glucose to be used as energy in the recovery process - the problem you have when you have diabetes and not on insulin is that your body can't actually deal with the extra glucose very well. I would imagine things will calm down before too long, but if you are concerned then worth contacting your GP or NHS 111 for advice.

What are your usual levels like? I hope that you recover well, and soon 🙂

Been admitted to hospital. Insulin pump up at 2pm, bg coming down now.

I hope that you get your levels back to normal soon. It is difficult after surgery as levels rise and you therefore need more insulin. I am not sure how this is achieved for Type 2S who are not on insulin. Perhaps someone else will come along with ideas. Do you have Ketostix to check for ketones or is that not a problem for T2

Looks like I'm going to be sent him from hospital with insulin...... been on a iv pump since 4pm yesterday.... Bg down from +30 to 14. Then I had a slice of toast, and a hot drink (no sugar or sweetners added) and rose again.... They have altered the infusion from 6units per hour, down to 4, down to 2.... Then back to 4......... BM every hour. (so tired this morning, but feeling MUCH better than I did 12 hours ago )
Thankfully I'm in zero pain from surgery on Friday

Been told it can happen after surgery, but also that this may be coincidental and my treatment plan will need altering.... Which ever it may be, thank you all for your advice.

Fingers crossed ill be home in time for a lunch time nap
Checked "ketones" before starting pump... It was 0.2. not sure what that is tho.....?
