I have no idea why I don’t sleep, when the diabetes came about i thought once my sugars got better that would help but It’s still no better. Yes unfortunately the wake was for my nan bless her. I was the host because we have a large family and I have the most outdoor space (considering covid ). mind you, she was 90 and drifted off gently in her sleep. I’d be happy with that at this point! Well good luck with your telephone appointment.. I’d ask them to repeat antigad etc and c-peptide. Keep us informed 🙂
Bless your Nan always sad, but for her a blessing that she passed peacefully in her sleep.
I've seen my consultant at last! They think I'm type 1 LADA now which I've suggested before. Put on insulin, which I'm hoping sorts me out a little better. Also had antibody bloods done so I await the results! Hope you're well and sleeping better .

What actual insulin have they started you on?

Glad you have been started on insulins and that they are beginning to work for you @Camperman

Hope you don’t have to wait too long for the antibody results.

Oh good - sensible modern choices! next time you speak to them, ask if you can have Libre sensors on prescription please, and see what they say cos whether you are T1 or not, when you're controlling by insulin Libre's a great help seeing where any gaps in insulin activity (or the opposite where you have too much insulin!) are a lot more easily and quickly than when basal testing with a glucometer - hence of assistance to both you and the medics.

Thank you, about 2 weeks apparently, that should determine whether I am type 1 I hope. Consultant and nurse seemed to think I am. Its a relief, I feel I have some control over the disease at last!

To be honest the consultant was excellent, I really can't fault them, it was a breath of fresh air!
Yes they've said they're going to trynto get me a libre, I know about them and agree they're fantastic and give much more info. They seem to think I should be eligible with a little persuasion as it would benefit me for work, odd job, odd shifts, so fingers crossed. So far the insulin has really given me control of the disease back, feels very liberating!

I’m so pleased for you. Being in a similar situation to you there were no issues or arguments about me getting the libre. I’m aware this isn’t the case for everybody but I didn’t need to fight my case at all.

Liberating - yes!! - of course it is - because it starts to give you and I more control of our own lives back and that's such a blessed relief after we've been wallowing about in the dark for however long. There are always about a million things people don't know when being diagnosed of course but at the very least once we can be sure of that diagnosis, we have more than the offchance of dealing with it successfully. Without being sure - it's like knitting fog - and I defy even Tom Daley to knit a cardigan out of that!

Camperman - interesting but not quite sure of the origin thereof for you. These days, should one be enquiring Camper than whom? or simply 'Do you spend some of your leisure time in a field or similar in eg a tent?'
